The importance of good grammar

You can make a great first impression and attract more LetMeGo travellers when your listing is free of spelling and grammatical errors.

Travellers who are searching for lodgings may be wary if they see multiple mistakes, so it’s vital that you don’t overlook this important step when completing your listing.

Here are a few points to keep in mind:

  • Capitalize the first letter of each word in your lodging name and address.  In the other sections on your listing, use a capital at the beginning of each sentence.
  • Don’t write in uppercase.  It may be quicker to type this way, but uppercase is normally used when someone wants to indicate that they are SHOUTING.
  • Break information into paragraphs and separate each paragraph with a blank line.
  • Don’t misuse exclamation marks! One exclamation mark is sufficient at the end of a sentence.  Overuse can be distracting.
  • Be careful when using Google Translate.  Although this is a powerful tool, it’s not perfect and your phrase could get lost in translation.
  • Run your text through a spell checker and ask someone to proofread your listing after you’ve entered all the information.

An error-free listing will not only increase your credibility and professionalism, but will generate travellers’ confidence when booking your lodgings through LetMeGo.

  3. Very helpful! Thank you!

  4. Good post…although I no doubt have an error or three in my website I am always trying to ensure it is free of typo's etc…I definitely cringe and go elsewhere when I come across a poorly typed page so I guess my potential guest will too…

  5. facile per Voi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's easy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I agree with Treeny, that the first impression is very important. I always try to check my text with spell checker if I'm answering to foreign guest (in English). But sometimes there just isn't enough time. But otherwise I stick to rules you pointed out.
